Inn at Schoolhouse Creek

albion elk ca

Albion & Elk are found on either side of where Hwy 128 meets the sparkling blue Pacific Ocean.
Turning south on Hwy 1 from Hwy 128, you'll meander along the Mendocino Coast with rolling hills of undeveloped coastal meadows on your way to discover the laid-back village of Elk. It's a lively close-knit community within one of the most peaceful oceanfront hideaways you'll ever find. This charming hamlet is perched high above the Pacific Ocean on sparsely populated scenic bluffs.

This magical oceanfront village is the postcard image of a "Best Kept Secret!"
Located 17 miles south of Mendocino, the seaside hamlet of Elk is composed of retired professionals, craftspeople, and hoteliers, with an enviable quality of life. While the sign at the edge of town says "Population 250" be told, there are only about 80 full-time residents enjoying this little slice of Heaven on Earth.

The historic Albion River Bridge, was built in 1944 and is the last wooden bridge in operation along Highway 1. It was constructed from salvaged wood during World War II, when steel and concrete were in short supply.
